Finally, a positive story in the world of retailing

The brutality of Australia's retail sector is hitting hard and not all are weathering the storm, with some established names disappearing from our retail landscape altogether, both chains and independents.

Bedshed is defying the odds and performing well in one of the toughest retail environments its Chief Operating Officer, Gavin Culmsee has experienced during his 20 years in the industry.

Bedshed's resilience in part lies in its 30 year old franchised business model. Having a network of franchisees driving their own business, the buying power of a large group and a business model that has stood the test of time is the backbone of Bedshed's retail success.

Also, unlike other retail operators, big ticket purchases such as bedding and bedroom furniture are still made in store and rely on expert on-the-ground advice.

Franchising is a growing sector and as economic uncertainty continues, entrepreneurs are flocking to it because it offers the safety of a well-known brand and proven formula.

The PricewaterhouseCoopers Franchise Sector Indicator report reveals that 2011 saw excellent growth within the franchise industry.

According to the PWC report, the sector performed well when compared to the broader economy. Franchisors predict revenue growth of 11 per cent in 2012 and 37 per cent over the next three years, with profits also predicted to grow.

Bedshed has major expansion plans underway and is actively seeking new franchisees on the east coast of Australia. For more information, visit the Bedshed website or contact Rod Parker, National Business Development Manager on 0419 494 480.
